Casting Rumor and Innuendo

Casting News
unbreakable5There are lots of rumors about Kim Hyun Joong floating around there right now. And not one of those rumors is that he takes finally takes his shirt off on Barefoot Friends. Darn it.
No these rumors are of him potentially signing onto a new drama for the fall. I haven’t been able to find any source to say anything more than he’s ‘considering it’. And I’ve learned (and so should you) that we cannot trust casting ‘considerations’. Do I have to remind you about the City Conquest debacle? How many of us pinned our hopes on Kim Hyun Joong coming back to dramas in an action adventure revenge story? Hopes that were taken up and up until they were slowly busted.

I’ve decided to not believe anything until a network is signed, a date is announced, and possibly even the first episode has premiered.
The potential drama is called Age of Feeling (or Generation of Youth depending on the source), set in 1930’s Shanghai. Okay–after watching Bridal Mask, I know that the costumes on this have the capability of being awesome–and I’d love to see Kim Hyun Joong in one of those suits. Rawr.
Hancinema and their sometimes weirdly random plot descriptions says: Generation of Youth is based in 1930 Shanghai about youths who go through love, friendship and passion. Sin Jeong-tae is clumsy and random at times but he is the greatest fighter in all of the backstreets of Shanghai.
Well, yeah, that totally makes sense.
Hmm…I’m on the fence on this one. I do love me some Kim Hyun Joong, and I’ll take him anyway I can get him. But he’s not the strongest actor. And, I’m currently really enjoying the heck out of him on Barefoot Friends, I just love his actual personality. If he does a drama, would he not be there? GASP! Nope, I’m out. Fail show, fail.
Just kidding.
However, I’m not kidding about not pinning my hopes on this show. It’s had just as bumpy of a ride as City Conquest, not being able to get a time slot, not being able to nail down a lead actor, all adds up to uh-oh. Guess we’ll find out soon!
