Musical Monday: The Did They Just Say What I Think They Said Edition

For some reason I’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of Brown Eyed Girls as, in the fast churn and burn world of Kpop, it’s been quite a long time since they’ve released anything new. Now, I’m not a huge Brown Eyed Girls fan but I do like their edgy videos. They are one of the few Kpop groups who don’t rely on aegyo but something a bit harder.

And in this video, despite the initial cutesy concept? That something is SEX. 

Holy smokes guys. I was just humming along on this song, not really liking it but not really hating it, more thinking to myself–this is Brown Eyed Girls? Then it happened. The chorus hit. Which goes something like this.

Fire in the hole when you touch me down there.

Woah. There’s the real Brown Eyed Girls! Then for the rest of the video my mouth was agape, reading the lyrics and watching the super suggestive video. In the context of the bubblegum sweetness of the usual girl group fair, this was hilarious! And I can’t help but wonder–how quickly was this song banned on all of the networks? I’m guessing it probably took them to about the chorus too.

While I don’t love the song, and I hope I never get caught singing this as I walk down the street, the video was a pretty fun experience. Thanks Brown Eyed Girls!
