Or, more to the case, Jang Geun Suk is on his way back! And I couldn’t be more happy for him. Or, again, more to the case, I’d be happier if his big comeback drama weren’t a royal type saeguk. Gah! These things just aren’t my cup of tea.

But still we can celebrate Jang Geun Suk’s return to serious acting.

I’ve actually been a big fan of his acting since seeing him in the much loved You’re Beautiful and the mostly hated Love Rain. With the huge failure that was Love Rain, it seemed as though he was set off course—caught up in his whole ‘Prince of Asia’ schtick. Focusing more on his Team H music, drinking, DJ’ing, and that Pretty Man drama which just made you roll your eyes. He has talent, real acting talent that he just wasn’t’ putting to use, and that was a real shame.

Or at least I thought.

Then last year, he was caught up in a tax evasion scandal (which it was eventually found to be the fault of his management company) and he had to pull out of the Three Meals A Day: Fishing Village program (even being edited out of the filmed episodes) after this he pulled back from the spotlight in order to begin the traditional Korean Star Scandal Break.

I wondered when he would come back and if he was able to which Jang Geun Suk we would get—talented actor? Or preening pretty boy?

Lucky for us it seems to be door number 1! Jang Geun Seuk says himself that he wants to “recover his pride as an actor.” Woot! His first attempt seems like a big step towards this goal. Daebak is a SBS drama slated for March once Six Flying Dragons ends.

The story is of two royal brothers one living the high life of a royal and the other living amonst the lower class. I’m sure there will be some sort of power struggle, some sort of fight for a girl, and I’m sure that by the end someone will be dead or living in a sad, sad state. As it is with all royal saeguks. Le Sigh. But just because I don’t think I want to watch, that’s okay, I’m just so happy that Jang Geun Suk is attempting to take his acting career seriously again. Like a proud aunt looking at the wayward nephew attempting to get his GED.

Well. That was oddly specific.

Another reason why I’m so excited and think that his show is attempting quality is the casting of Yeo Jin Goo as the other half of the warring brother pair. He is a young guy who is an excellent actor and takes his acting career very seriously. He has a great track record of quality products behind him and a great buzz in front of him.

Gah. I’m going to have to watch this show aren’t I? DANG IT.

Welcome back Jang Geun Suk! We’re happy to have you and we hope you manage to stick around for a while. Although aren’t we creeping up on military time for you? Well. Do what you can, while you can.
