Entertain Us, Ji Sung

Casting News

A new drama that is on the Khorizon. You know. Not that I’m watching new dramas of course. Nope. The new drama and possible heartbreak of uninformed bad ending embargo is still in place. Firmly in place. But hey, perhaps you are not jaded like me, or were not burned by Signal as much as I was, and still like to know this information.

Ji Sung has signed onto a new drama!

And not that ‘has been offered’ or ‘seriously considering’ nonsense. He has signed onto a drama which seems right up my underdog story lovin’ alley. (Come on, who doesn’t love a good underdog story?) The drama which is currently set to follow Come Back Ahjussi in April, is called Entertainer and is set in the…you guessed it, entertainment industry. Entertainer follows the story of whoever Ji Sung plays, a high powered agent who works for a big agency (as all high powered agents do) but is betrayed (of course) and forced out (saw that coming). As any good underdog, our guy goes out and decides to start his own agency. His agency will be filled (I’m sure) with all sorts of seemingly d-list talent filled with heart who, if someone  would just give them a chance, could turn right to A. (Or a solid B+)

Now doesn’t that sound like fun?

Our guy will have a love interest, currently Chae Jung An, who lots of people disliked in Yong Pal, but I think that was more for story and not for her actual acting. (Although, looking up her picture, I realized she’s also the one who played that whiny girlfriend in Coffee Prince. Ugh.) She plays an agent from another company. I wonder if she’s going to join him on his journey or if they will just keep bumping into each other during the course of their jobs? You know, she just feels bad for him and his people for being wrongly turned away from things and ridiculed? Then secretly giving them a hand? I can totally see this.

Since this is new in the casting land, there is still information coming in at high speed (as this is the only speed Kdrama production works at). However, being courted, which makes me very excited, is the guy I like to call ‘the drummer kid from CNBlue’, although he does have a name, Kang Min Hyuk, and, if you follow his Instagram, you’ll know he’s hardly still a kid. I like him. I like his band. He was adorable in Heartstrings. I hope he signs on.

If all goes as planned and the show ends well, I can’t wait to check this out. (Although, I guess with all of those caveats, I guess I can and am waiting to check this out.) This will be the first time I’ve seen Ji Sung in anything since Protect The Boss. I thought he was great in that drama and, while he seems to whip out a new drama every year, there hasn’t been another one of his that I’ve wanted to see. Bummer Ji Sung, Bummer. Although, now that I think about it, I did come close last year with his Kill Me Heal Me, however the shrill voice of the heroine turns me off. If she could just lower that shriek of hers just a few decibels, I would really enjoy her acting.

Totally want to watch this! Sounds promising. And, by the way, Kill Me Heal Me was one of the best dramas of 2015, and Ji Sung was brilliant in it. It was so good, I’d even re-watch it. So, I’m very excited to see him in Entertainer. AND I can’t wait to see Min Hyuk in another drama! If that works out, double “woo-hoo!”
