What weird timing! Lee Min Ki snuck off to sneakily do his military service right before I went to KCon a couple of years ago and now, two years later, he’s just as quietly on his way out before I head to KCon again. Welcome back Lee Min Ki! I’d like to say we missed you, but no lie, I kind of, maybe…forgot about you.
I know. It sounds terrible. It sounds like I didn’t care at all, but here’s the thing, I don’t think this is entirely my fault. This is what happens when you keep yourself under the radar, a fan gets used to not hearing anything about you. So, technically, your fault, right?
Although, now that I think about it, right before you went in I did watch that serial killer movie that, while I didn’t like it, you did get full on nakers for. And then there was that other one you filmed that was released during your service that I didn’t even bother to watch… yeah, nevermind…I’m a terrible fan.
Sorry about that.
Anyway, you’re coming back and you’re coming back with a bang! (And by bang I mean a fun new drama! Isn’t that the best way for them to come back, you think question mark. Come back with work already lined up question mark Although, something tells me that those drama companies have someone whose job is just to sit there and watch those military end dates. I kind of picture this guy sitting outside the gates scoping out anyone who steps foot out.
Lets get into the new drama deets, shall we? Not only is he starting a fun new drama, it looks like he’s going to be cast against Shin Min Ah who is pretty hot right now coming off Oh My Venus (and who, if I remember correctly, eased Lee Jun Ki out of his military service in Arang and the Magistrate). Whenever anyone asks me my favorite actresses, I never think to name her, but looking back, she is solid.
The drama,Tomorrow With You, is actually about an already established couple–I know–weird right? That is a big rarity with a cast this young. So if there is no meet-cute and falling in love to hook you in, what is the point of the drama you ask question mark In this story Lee Min Ki is a man who time travels. Hmm…now I’m seeing what the lure was for Lee Min Ki, that little weirdo.
Is anyone else having flashes of Time Travelers Wife here? Here’s hoping this little ditty ends better than that one. (Not that I watched it, I heard the ending and went, nope, not for me.) I want to say, no, this is kdrama, they wont do us that way, but then again, this is kdrama and they love to do us that way. Remember Scent of A Woman? Remember Thousand Days Promise? Kdrama certainly does like to take our hearts, rip them out slowly, then grind them under their cute shoed heels.
So, despite that worrying possibility–ooh! Unless, unlike the Time Traveler’s Wife, Lee Min Ki has control of his time traveling abilities and then I think this show could be just straight hijinks. Could he take her with him on his travels? Why am I suddenly picturing a time-traveling Nick and Nora Charles? GAH! This needs to be a thing. Or at least just a Korean Nick and Nora: The chemistry! The humor! The big reveal at the end! I would watch the crap out of that show.
I guess whatever this show will end up being will be okay too…
We can be extra excited about this because this will be the first time Lee Min Ki will be back on tv in a really long time. Yes, he’s known for Shut Up Flower Boy Band, but let’s all remember, that was 1) a really long time ago and 2) he was only in it for 4 episodes.
As I first was introduced to him via dramas (in I Really Really Like You) I’m excited to see him in another tv show. Just think—at least 16 hours of Lee Min Ki time!
I believe all of this deserves a big wahoooo!
