It’s our dear, lovely music sharing, Song Joong Ki loving, fanfic reading, general bad-ass chick, SaraG’s birthday! So. Since I’m allllll the way here in NY and she’s alllll the way in Denver (at least until next months BTS concert—wahoo!) The best gift I have to give is the gift of words. And pictures.
Once upon a time, there was a boy name Hoseok and a boy named Yoongi.
Hoseok and Yoongi were the best of friends. Some would call them inseparable. They liked to cook together.
While they didn’t tell their friends, they also liked to go to the spa together. Nothing says friendship like scrubbing each other’s backs and then lounging around in plush robes.
Nothing could come between them.
There were others though, who were jealous of their friendship. Envious of just how close Yoongi and Hoseok were.
Jimin in particular, enjoyed how happy Hoseok always was. How he spent lots of time trying to cheer up his friend Yoongi. He decided he wanted to steal the little ray of sunshine away from Yoongi, who obviously didn’t deserve him.
And he made a plan to try and get close to Hoseok.
To try and drive a wedge between Yoongi and Hoseok. He started always hanging around Hoseok, taking pictures and posting them on social media.
Asking him to help with special projects, anything to spend more time with Hoseok.
Hoseok, who notoriously friendly, was soon caught up in all the attention. He began to spend more time with Jimin.
Yoongi did start to notice the absence of his little ray of sunshine and he began to get sad. His friend Namjoon tried to cheer him up, tried to tell him– Hoseok still cared very much for him and that he was just the sort of person who liked everyone. Yoongi was not convinced.
Soon, Yoongi got so sad, he began to pick fights with Hoseok. He wasn’t mad at him, he was just afraid he was losing his best friend and didn’t know how to deal with it. Hoseok wasn’t sure why Yoongi was acting this way and it made him frustrated.
Meanwhile, Jimin was quietly celebrating that his plan was working.
Jimin 1 : Yoongi 0
He knew the way things were going, know his plan was going to be so successful, it was only a matter of time before he had Hoseok all to himself.
However, while Hoseok may have seemed like he was all sunshine and light, all happy go lucky, on the inside, he was very sad. He missed his friend Yoongi very much and wasn’t sure how to make things better.
One day, he went out with his friend Namjoon to get some ramen. While Namjoon was more Yoongi’s friend than his, and they never really spent much time together alone, he felt closer to Yoongi by hanging out with his friend.
“Why so glum, chum?” Namjoon, a lover of corny jokes, joked. Surprised with himself, Hoseok let it all spill out, how he and Yoongi seemed to be drifting apart. How Yoongi seemed to be mad at him for some reason but wouldn’t tell him why. But Namjoon knew what was going on and he decided to lay it all out.
Yoongi isn’t mad at you, he explained. You’ve been spending so much time with your new friend, Yoongi has been lonely.
He’s afraid you like Jimin more than him.
The truth suddenly dawned on Hoseok and, after thanking Namjoon and promising to buy him some soju as a thank you, he ran to go find Yoongi. He looked everywhere for his missing friend–at the train yard where they would hang out.
In the woods where they would go camping.
But he couldn’t find Yoongi anywhere! He was beginning to give up hope. Maybe it was too late? Maybe he’d lost Yoongi for good!
Then he realized exactly where he would be. Knew, because he was his best friend, what Yoongi always fell back on when he was sad. Music. And Hoseok was right. Yoongi was exactly where he thought, where he should be. At the studio making music.
Immediately Hoseok jumped on him. “Hey you big idiot!” he said. “You didn’t really think I liked Jimin more than you, did you?”
Surprised at Hoseok’s outburst, and eager to get him off his back, Yoongi admitted the truth. He did. He thought Hoseok like Jimin more than him. He thought he hadn’t spent enough time with Hoseok. Had thought maybe he’d taken Hoseok for granted. He felt pretty bad about it.
Hoseok had no idea Yoongi felt this way—not to mention—Yoongi was very wrong. Hoseok loved being the only one who could cheer Yoongi up. Hoseok loved their time together and felt bad that he’d gotten so caught up with Jimin that he’d left Yoongi behind.
He and Yoongi decided never take each other for granted again.
And they gave Namjoon big thanks for helping them work out their differences—even if it cost them lots and lots of bowls of ramen in return. It was worth it.
And they all lived happily ever after!
Happy Birthday, SaraG!
