That’s been my last day. The site was down for almost an entire 24 hours. Did you miss me? Did you wonder where we were? What happened? If we were coming back? …..Or is it possible you didn’t notice we were gone at all?

GAH! If the answer si the last one, please keep your yaps to yourselves as, as I’ve mentioned, it’s been a very trying day.

SO, where were we? I got a notice from a plugin we use that the site was down. Unfortunately, this is not a new occurance, the hosting company I pay for, DreamHost, has been giving me fits. Suddenly, after using their service for almost two years, suddenly our site goes down with no notice and when I chat, yet again, with customer service, they blame the site. The site where no plugins have changed, where I’ve kept the same theme since the inception of Kchat. Now suddenly there are errors all over the place, the site continually does down, usually popping back up on its own, and anger and frustration ensues.

When I got the notification that the site was down this time, I figured it was the same, except though at almost an hour, it was one of the longest times we’d been down. I got in line for customer service, sent out an annoyed tweet and waited my turn. Though this was mid work day and or course I got called into a meeting. When I came back, I missed the live chat of course, but they explained it was a database (mySQL)  issue and the site would be up in 20 minutes. Eight hours later…still no site. Get in line for customer service again, wait forever for them to get to me only to be told it’s still a database issue and to make a ticket for customer service. Ummm…so I got in line to be told to get into another line? And why wasn’t I told of the issue? You’d think if something like a database issue had happened, affecting those who were on that particular one, we would have gotten a heads up, some sort of update. And yet all I got was silence unless I was the one who was asking questions.  Another angry tweet.

Got up this morning? Still no site, no word from DreamHost. We were not at like 22 hours out. I know I’m a fluffy site. I know it’s not like I make money here, but my site means something to me. I was angry and frustrated. Checked into customer service live chat again. At least now I only had to wait like 10 minutes, and the person on the other end of the line was not obviously doing something else at the same time and was able to fix my issue —or, let’s not give out too much praise —the main issue had been fixed earlier that day, my site just hadn’t been put back up.

What the ever loving fudge.

I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday. I don’t know about you guys but it’s been a pretty crappy week so far. I think I’m going to go off, pout, regroup and be researching myself some new hosting companies.

for today.

Thanks for coming back guys. Thanks for sticking it out with me. I heart you like Kim Jongkook loves the gym.

I only read the occasional article here so imagine my surprise when I clicked in and it was down, I thought it was my internet problem and refreshed so many times! Good to see that you are back, hang in there!

I did notice! And it was sad! I like to read when I get to work…that was a loveless day. One that I will write a song for similar to “The Day the Music Died.” Glad you are back!! And no worries!!!
