And if you listened verrry closely? Do you hear that? That noise? Right there? That my friends is the sound of SaraG wailing her loss. Her children will never know the wonder that was to be New Daddy. Of course, the sound you hear could also be the cumulative cries of many a Song Joong Ki fangirl.
After much denial, of unsubstantiated rumors, of secret vacations to Bali, it was announced today that Song Joong Ki will be marrying his Descendants of the Sun leading lady, Song Hye Kyo. Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be getting married at the end of October they announced through their management companies. So it’s like…official this time.
While I know many a fangirl’s heart is broken, it turns my drama loving fan to goo. A couple met on a set and for real fell in love. Doesn’t that just scream KDRAMA??? Now. I will for the rest of this article be holding back my internal glee as I remember when it was announced that Junsu was caught dating and — even though they have since broken up — it still is an unpleasant thought.
Though we fangirls know that these are real people, we know that their reality is much different than the ones we know in our heads. While we do realize we will never actually meet those ultimate biases, and yes, we know that they don’t, in any way, actually belong to us. Though we know all of these things to be true, we still feel a connection, still, watch that bias on the screen, be it an actor or an idol, and think, maybe that could be us. As that is essentially the entertainment machine’s goal. And though I’m a grown ass adult who does sometimes think twice about this growing K-obsession, I’m okay with it. You see, I think of it as all those people out there buying lottery tickets. We buy those tickets and hope, ‘maybe me’ while realizing, it probably never actually will be us — but for those few seconds of time away from our day, those bits of wistful happiness it gives us? Well, that’s just worth the price of admission right there.
Makes me wonder what Kwang Soo, Song Joong Ki’s best friend and is thinking right now. I’m sure he’s thrilled, as he is Kwang Soo, and I’m fairly certain he’s just built that way. However, he is losing the other half of his bromance right now. No more he and he vacations, no more crashing at each other’s houses when they’ve drunk too much. So let’s all just take a moment to realize the real loser in all of this.
The secret winner in this news? Those of you out there, you know who you are, who secretly, at the end of a drama, ship the main leads together. Their chemistry was so good! They were so cute together behind the screens! It has to be real, right? Yeah, to those people out there? I say, dream on ladies! Next time it could totally be your pairing.
