New Additions to the LGBT List

Now that I finally have a computer again, it’s time for something long overdue! An update to the LGBT drama/Movie pages! There were some things I could sneak and do on my work laptop, but the intense research needed to update those pages? Not one of them. (I’m not going to tell you the sites I find myself on while doing this, let’s just say a spritz of Holy water sprinkled on the laptop wouldn’t be a bad thing.

Since it’s been so long since we’ve had an update, I think you deserve a reward! A supersize update!

That Room (2014) Chinese, short film

A man whose lover committed suicide, and the struggle of wanting to stay close to his spirit by staying in that room.


The Poet and That Boy (2017) Korean, movie

Hyun Taek-Ki (Yang Ik-June) is a 40 year old poet. He doesn’t have much talent in writing poetry and he doesn’t make any money. His sperm count is also low. His wife (Jeon Hye-Jin) gives him a hard time, but she does care about him. Hyun Taek-Ki agonizes over his poetry and wife badly wants a baby. One day, a teenage boy (Jung Ga-Ram) appears in front of him. Taek-Ki feels something he never felt before.

Hana wa Saku Ka / Does the Flower Bloom? (2018) Japanese, movie
Kazuaki Sakurai is a 37-year-old man working at an advertising agency. For a CM shooting, he goes to a beautiful house. At the house, he meets Yoichi Mizukawa (Tsurugi Watanabe) while he is painting a picture. Yoichi Mizukawa is a 19-year-old art student. He lives with his cousins in the big old house. Kazuaki Sakurai becomes attracted to Yoichi Mizukawa.
Meanwhile, Yoichi Mizukawa is only interested painting, but he begins to take an interest in Kazuaki Sakurai. The two men get closer, but Kazuaki Sakurai gets transferred to Osaka.

In the play, their characters become involved in a relationship and as they rehearse, the distance between reality and fiction starts to get blurry…

The Boy Next Door (2017)  Korean, web series

College students, Park Gyu Tae and Seong Ji Jae are two awkward neighbors that have a small disliking towards each other. After an accident, the two boys move in together. They soon figure out that they are both friends with Kim Min Ah. The two end up in hilarious, awkward situations that lead Min Ah and her closeted boyfriend to believe they are gay.

Your Voice, My Heart (2018) Taiwanese, drama

Su Ye Xin left his parents to live on his own because they were furious and unsupportive after he told them he was gay. He is a huge fan of famous dubbing artist Sheng Sheng and has a crush on him. Since he fears that Sheng Sheng has prejudices towards homosexuals he is using a female profile and known among the fans for strongly supporting his crush. Coincidently, he had the chance to do private coaching for Sheng Sheng in real-life, whose real name is Xie Xiao Sheng. Apart from his excitement to be able to get to know his crush in person, Su Ye Xin also realizes something bizarre about Xie Xiao Sheng. Xie Xiao Sheng’s occasional emotional outbreaks and his hate towards his cousin Gu Fan and his lover Shen Hai all point towards an incident that happened in his childhood…

The renown hitman, ‘Flying Dagger’, bumps into ‘Wild Dog’, who happens to be a hired assassin for mobster ‘Black Leopard’. They run into danger as gangsters brand them as traitors. Will they be able to overcome obstacles and keep their love?

Stephanie’s Take: Heard it was a happy ending? The ladies and I are going to watch this weekend, so I’ll let you know what I find out.

Anger (2016) Japan, Movie

A man brutally murders a married couple and leaves behind the words “Ikari” (“Anger”) written with their blood. The killer undergoes plastic surgery and flees.

At 3 different locations in Japan, a male stranger appear. People there suspect that the stranger might be the murderer.

At a fishing harbor in Chiba, Yohei Maki (Ken Watanabe) works at the harbor and he has a daughter, Aiko (Aoi Miyazaki). Aiko begins to date Tetsuya Tashiro (Kenichi Matsuyama). Yohei begins to suspect that his daughter’s boyfriend might be the killer, because he is using a fake name.

In downtown Tokyo, gay male Yuma Fujita (Satoshi Tsumabuki) works at an advertising agency. He meets Naoto Onishi (Gou Ayano) and they begin to live together. While getting Naoto to open his mind, Yuma begins to suspect Naoto as the killer.

In Okinawa, Izumi Komiya (Suzu Hirose) and her mother move to an isolated island there. One day, she takes a walk and meets Shingo Tanaka (Mirai Moriyama). The young is backpacking alone. Izumi gets close to Shingo, but Shingo asks Izumi to not to tell others about him.

Double Mint (2017) Japanese, movie

“We can’t live without each other. You’re my other half.” “I’ve killed a woman.” The domineering voice on the phone was that of a high school classmate, Mitsuo Ichikawa(Shunsuke). Buried memories from the past resurface in the heart of a man with the same name, Mitsuo Ichikawa(Yasushi Fuchikami). It drags him right back into the passions of the past. They reunite as accomplices, yet their relationship as master and servant slowly changes into something else.

The Tenants Downstairs (2016) Taiwanese

The story is about a man inheriting an old apartment and decided to rent it to tenants who had different kinds of strange inner sides. By setting up the pinhole cameras in the apartment, he enjoyed the pleasure of peeping people and discovered their secrets. However, the story of those tenants and the landlord were becoming crazier and complicated.
