It’s time. It’s actually past time. We’ve talked about her for so long, probably years now, and it’s about time you meet her for real, the legend that is LizC! We have special guest LizC on the show with us, and we talk to her about all the usual just-met-a-Kdrama-fan questions: when, how, what’s your favorite, kpop yay or nay? Fascinating!

Liz, I thought I should leave a comment for you to comment on since this is such an occasion.

Lee Min Ho was also my gateway to KDrama, but I started with City Hunter (on the recommendation of a Tollywood mate), and THEN stumbled across BOF. That hair! Those outfits! For the record I was very anti the glued on goatee from Faith but very pro the villain’s accessorising.

My foray into KPop followed, and my fate was sealed by BAP who toured here about 6 months before my first trip to Korea. And on your recommendation I saw BTS in Seoul which was huge fun.

One day we wil have to compare notes on the two bias lists and whether the secret and slightly mortifying bias ever makes it to publicly acknowledged The One status. But now I have to go watch some N.Flying “the band that knits”.

    LizC,

You didn’t happen to be a member of BollyWHAT, did you? The comments at BW are what moved me to make the shift from Hindi/Telugu films to Korean dramas.

When I got into dramas, I completely left Hindi films behind. It’s been almost five years now. I never thought a day would come when I would know more about the Korean entertainment world than the Indian.

I can’t tell anymore if dramas were just that much more appealing or if the quality of Hindi films declined to a steep degree.

If you’ve kept up with Hindi films since you’ve been watching dramas, let me know if I’ve missed any must-watches in the last five years.

I wonder how many more of us there are who were belting out “nimbooda layi do” before we’d ever heard of Lee Min Ho. 😛

Hi Chaiyya, I was BollyWHAT (“dustdevil”) back in the day. The recommendations in the Beyond BW section got me to check out Kdramas, too.

My BW-SI movie watching totally dropped off when I got into Kdramas, too. I try to keep up with a few of the big blockbusters (Bahubali, SRK, etc). With the South Indian movies, the switch from DVDs to streaming means it’s harder to find them with subtitles, which is a bummer. And I still go back and rewatch my favorite films (Jab We Met, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, etc) every once in a while. On the plus side, streaming music has made it much easier to keep up with the latest film songs.

    Hi Liz C!

Boys over Flowers was my first drama also. When they went to Macao and the Hotel was the same layout of Venetian in Las Vegas…I was blown away!!! I had such a limited experience of the world It was so eye opening. Made me curious about the world.

Loved Faith….speaking of beards Yoon Shi Yoon has a drama coming out, Grand Prince, and the teasers have him in a little stubble at one time. I am not usually a fan of Facial Hair on men in general.

Mr. SpiceAngel and I saw Epik High in Chicago the summer of 2015. It was our first K concert and it was a fantastic show. At Chicago there was not an opening act. A month later we saw BTS for the first time in Chicago and the rest is history!!

Hwayugi… I have enjoyed so far. However, I am not sure it was ever on the rails. 🙂

Great getting to know you a little better!
