Musical Monday – I Don’t Plan to Stop

Posted by SaraG on March 5, 2018

Here in Kchat land, we have a strong appreciation for NCT…in all of their iterations. Over the course of the last several weeks, they have been furiously releasing teasers and videos to support their NCT 2018 project involving a variety of different groupings of all 18 members. There will be a total of six music videos with two out already. NCT Dream is releasing one on March 5 – so today/yesterday. I’ve seen it, but I like to prepare these in advance and I haven’t had enough time to absorb, so it won’t be the highlight of this post.

Instead, I want to focus in on the glory that is NCT U ‘s Baby Don’t Stop, a duet featuring Ten and Taeyong. Holy crap. Something I’ve always appreciated about NCT was that SM doesn’t style them down…they aren’t frequently made to dress younger. Quite the contrary, in fact. They are definitely working their skinny asses off to be as sexy as humanly possible. Even the Dreamies…which is problematic in that I am a certified adult, and they are not. So I choose to enjoy the artistry of their stuff while not thinking too hard about any of it. NCT U, however, is a bit more appropriate. A bit. Some of them are old enough to drink and maaaaybe to have graduated college if they had gone that route.

Baby Don’t Stop, the song itself has a similar feel to the usual NCT fair (if you don’t count early NCT Dream stuff) in that it’s repetitive, completely danceable and involves some deeper electronic beats. It’s a good combination of both Ten and Taeyong singing and Taeyong providing the rap bits. The choreo is also about as NCT as you get, and to be frank, one of the primary reasons I like this group so much. They are incredibly precise dancers while still always managing to look sexy and slightly broken. The way they hold their bodies and move their limbs screams “I learned to dance from the best but now I break the rules!” The video has them in a variety of settings and outfits to include simple jeans and tank tops, blousy button ups with slacks, and high fashion blazers with no shirts underneath. I love, love, love the styling. So far, this comeback, as prolonged as it is, has been fantastic and I look forward to everything else that comes out.

The music isn’t available for sale until all of the MVs have been put out so I’m standing by to throw my money at them. The full album is set to be released on March 14 at 6:00 pm KST.

OMG!!! Baby Don’t Stop is amazing! The Dancing!! The grove!! This pairing is fantastic. They are so in sync and compliment each other.

Thank you for explaining what is going on. I could not find Baby Don’t Stop or Boss to purchase, only video’s.

NCT (in its many incarnations) is another group that Mr. SpiceAngel and I really enjoy. We were able to see NCT Dream at Mcountdown when we were in Korea.

Our all around favorite is Mark. For some reason he reminds me of Justin Timberlake?!? I have nicknamed him little JT.

Yes yes yes! I have actually been watching the MV/listening to this song almost on repeat. Seriously – at the gym today I listened to it 4 times in a row! I can’t get enough. And the music video – damn, those boys can sexy dance like no one else. So much pretty – and so freaking talented. Def looking forward to more new releases from NCT.

Oh! I was in the pit at Korea Times Music Festival and saw NCT127 up close – like, I was leaning on the stage. And damnit if they aren’t just as flawless in person as on the stage. Taeyong in particular is ridiculous- he’s real-life anime. Much like he is in this music video.

So happy to see other people obsessed with this song, I can’t stop thinking about it.
I like nct but I’ve never connected much with them, but now I’m very excited for the new videos and album AND I finally have a bias, is Ten.

Sure, everyone is talking about the sexy dancing and abs, but will no one appreciate all of the lovely mid-century architecture and furniture featured in the NCT2018 MVs? Those auditorium chairs in Don’t Stop! Those poured concrete stairs in Boss!

(Also, I’m very excited that the LA Metro is featured in the new Dream MV!)

You are so right, Liz…I was totally staring at the architecture.
