Ok, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but we like to imbibe in adult beverages out here in Colorado. It’s not just the Nerd Herd either, it’s the whole state. We’re pretty much an economy based on the making and consuming of various types of alcohol. I think it’s the sun…there’s too much sun and we need to deal with all of that vitamin D somehow. It’s not that we’re getting wasted all the time, we like just enough that we’re tipsy but able to hike or ski or play tennis the next morning. I think this might be why the drinking culture so prevalent in South Korea speaks so clearly to those of us in the Centennial State. We identify with the coping mechanism if not the cause.
One of my favorite things is to see idols, so perfectly trained to play their parts in the public eye, lose a little control under the influence of a few drinks. Or if you count the bottles on the table, lots of drinks. So when I stumbled on the Dingo show Tipsy Live, I lost my cool a little. It’s literally the perfect show for me. It’s idols drinking, eating, and then singing their stuff…loudly, around a table, with lots of laughter.
The first episode I saw was Winner just after Everyday came out. I didn’t realize it was an actual show and I thought that they’d just gotten together to celebrate the song and Mino’s birthday. And then I took a look at the suggested links on the side of the page…more groups, more laden tables, and more antics. Such a win.
Everyday, Winner
There are a bunch of episodes, not as many as I would want, but a bunch nonetheless. I particularly enjoyed the compilation of songs done by Block B. They basically don’t stop drinking the whole time and get exceptionally excited each time the track changes. I feel like they might have been so disappointed when the actual episode ended that they stayed and kept drinking and singing into the night. I’m sure I’m not wrong.

It’s not just the idol groups either. Hyukoh did the show even before they were as well known as they are now. Wing Wing is one of my favorite songs and seeing them in, what I imagine, is their natural art school state pleases me to no end. It feels like I would have hung out with them during undergrad. I love to watch the two sit and giggle on the side while Oh Hyuk is completely lost in the song…not playing it cleanly, but still totally into it.

And it’s not just a boys club. Women like to unwind with some drinks too…trust me. This episode with EXID seriously makes me wonder how many other girl groups I could hang out with on a social basis and not at all feel out of place.
