Monsta School: Shownu

SaraG: Who wants to learn a bit about Shownu?? Our Monsta X leader and beautiful awkward cutie pie….

Stephanie: Me ! Me! Me! (I’m not excited at all for this class…)

SaraG: Ok, so Shownu, real name Sohn Hyun Woo, was a trainee for JYP with the members of Got7. He was supposed to debut with them but was ultimately let go. I don’t know the details, but it has to do with ‘trainee absenteeism’. He is still close with the Got7 members.

Stephanie: Uhoh. Absenteeism?

SaraG: Missed practices. He’s super talented, but I think he’s said that he didn’t take it seriously enough.

Stephanie: Till he was cut.

SaraG: Yep

Stephanie: That’ll do it.

SaraG: Learned a lesson. There could have been more to it, but I’m not privy
He’s 5’11” and in the 92 line. And he’s super solidly built…actually bigger than me!!! Even on is profile…so it’s for realsies.

Stephanie: I love how solid they all are.

SaraG:

SaraG: Yeah, most of them…Some of them…Three of them

Stephanie: Three out of seven ain’t bad

SaraG: He is the leader, main dancer, and lead vocalist…he takes part in almost all choreo for Monsta X. He’s called the ‘second Rain’ because of how he dances

Stephanie: From dropped from a label to leader.

SaraG: He’s super humble and never introduces himself as leader…he’s even said that Minhyuk is actually a natural leader. He was a backup dancer for Lee Hyori and has said that he would have been happy to have continued his career as a backup dancer

Stephanie: Awwwwww. I love the idea of Lee Hyori and Shownu working together. That must have been fun.

SaraG: He and Wonho were in Sistar’s ‘Shake It’ video. He and Kihyun are both confident in their looks…the others are less so. He works out a ton…obvs…and thinks his arms are his best feature.

Stephanie: I don’t think we can take his word for it, I think we’ll have to judge for ourselves.

SaraG: He is known as the hardest working member because he has done so much variety…King of Masked Singer, Law of the Jungle, Running Man, Weekly Idol, Lipstick Prince, and on and on

Stephanie: Lipstick Prince?

SaraG:

SaraG: Lipstick Prince was a show hosted by Heechul…a bunch of idols learned about beauty and makeup and tried stuff out on each other. Shownu was part of the cast. I’ve seen clips….it’s pretty funny

SaraG: Shownu and Soyou are super close… Shownu has a rep for being suuuuuper awkward.

Stephanie: I heart awkward idols.

SaraG: When he starts talking the energy tends to drop dramatically and people stop talking and wander away. So he has trained himself to not talk too much and let others take the lead

SaraG: At fan meets the fans know to ask him for a photo and avoid questions. He usually gives short one-word answers.

SaraG: The other members thrive on teasing him. But they adore him and he adores them. He once did a commercial and then split the pay with the other members

SaraG: He shares a room with Hyungwon and Wonho.

SaraG: And as derpie as he is, he’s also super sexy.

SaraG: He’s totally worth paying attention to.

MollyInKdramaland: He kinda looks like Ji Soo to me. Do you see it?

Stephane: Oooh. I see that.

SaraG: They are very similar. Both VERY HOT.

SaraG: If there was an idol frat house, he’d be the perfect frat mom. He would care for JK, Wonho, Kang Daniel, Woojin, and all of the other frat idols

Stephanie: SaraG needs to write that fic.

SaraG: Hahahahahaha. It would need a plot. That’s what I’m missing — And the time to write it.

MollyInKdramaland: There’s so much natural sexiness in that group!

Stephanie: Raises hand We don’t need a plot.

SaraG: So Shownu has said he’s down with dating older women so long as they are younger than his mom… I’d say we fit that category
