Many of you are aware of the arrangement I have with my spouse when it comes to traveling. I have to travel or I become a not nice person and he, within the last few years, has also become addicted to the habit. I’ll take the blame, I pushed the issue and he got hooked. However, we like to travel pretty differently and have pretty disparate destinations in mind. He’s all ‘let’s backpack in the middle of nowhere in the rain’ and I’m all ‘let’s eat from every single food stall in the middle of that city before ending the evening at a local dive.’ So we’ve balanced it out by taking a trip together with our kiddos and then taking a separate trip the opposite year either with like-minded friends or solo.
We are also both music lovers that thrive on seeing shows…all over the country.
Needless to say, our hobbies aren’t cheap. We both have to ease up on the spending from time to time in order to continue paying the mortgage, put food on the table, and make sure our children are provided all of those necessities they are constantly demanding. Like healthcare. And school supplies.
Because my husband just got back from two weeks backpacking in Scotland and I’m saving for our trip to Korea…and that Zico ticket I’m definitely going to score, I really and truly identify with the sentiment behind the song Stella Jang croons about in Vanishing Paycheck. It might not be designer clothes and fabulous accessories, but I have expensive tastes.
Stella Jang is a singer-songwriter that is heavily influenced by both hip-hop and 90’s Kpop as well as her experiences abroad…she studied in France for a bit. She’s got a couple of her own releases out there, like this one, but has also done some collabs with a few big names as well as some OSTs that you might have heard. I highly recommend looking her up. We’ll continue to see more and more of her so you might as well get on board now.
