What’s Happening With…Joo Won

Posted by Stephanie on February 5, 2019

Well…that was easy.

Not only is he out of the military, but, thanks to the implementation of the new serving rules, we’ve dropped our Joo Won-less existence 10 days early!

Funny story, this is no lie as all of the Friday night Colorado K-ladies can back me up on this, it was just this Friday that Joo Won popped into my head. Suddenly, I realized it had been a while since we sadly sent him off to do his military service and wondered aloud “Shouldn’t he be back soon?” by the power of Google LizC had the answer….not only had he been in a while, not only was he getting out soon, he was getting out less than a week!

Guys. Between this and the usual What’s Happening With… post coincidences — I think I might be magic. We should probably think about taking advantage of this. I’m not quite sure how this works, but you let me know who you want out of the military, who you want to sign onto a new drama, or who you want to start touring and POOF. I’ll make it happen.

For a small fee, of course. (Girl has a Korean trip coming she has to pay for!)

The unusual thing is that we hadn’t really heard much about him coming out. By now, rumbles about drama offers would have been floating around, or, if the actor is really good or really industrious, a drama would already be signed onto. As Joo Won is both an excellent actor and seemingly diligent, it’s surprising he’s coming out of the military unsigned. Which, don’t get me wrong, I’m completely fine with that. He’s again, an excellent actor, a man of post-military age, the world is waiting to see what his next project is going to be, so you’d better believe he’s going to get work as soon as he wants it. Personally though? I love the people who do end up taking a little time for themselves once they’re released. Not everyone has to pull a Junsu who seemed like he had the entire rest of his life scheduled before getting out. They just got through a significant life change. They have been away from their friends, their family, their lives for almost two years…taking some time to reacclimate doesn’t seem like a big ask.

Anyway, I’m glad to see him back! I’m looking forward to checking out whatever drama it is that he signs onto (as you know, eventually, it’s going to happen!) But more importantly, I’m excited to see where my magical powers take me next…

Just this morning, I was discussing the dad character from The Story of Ming Lan (Sheng Hong, played by Liu Jun) as someone who is a “real ass but with dimples out the wazoo – like Joo Won strength dimples” and – what do you know? – Joo Won appears! I need more dimples in my life.
