Musical Monday – Current Domestic Fantasy

Music

Some groups are just made for variety. Be it the chemistry between the members, individual awkwardness, willingness to be made fools of, or some other magical element, there is just something that makes some groups shine on YouTube. Those groups are often the ones that I fall for because I quickly and easily tumble down a hole like Alice in Wonderland and get completely attached. That’s how BTS made it so big and one of the reasons that NCT and ATEEZ are having so much success. The access to them as humans is everything.

I’ve spent the better part of the last six or so months completely falling in love with Nu’est – somewhat by accident and somewhat by design. As part of this process, I’ve been consuming an intense amount of their content on YouTube. They have not only their ongoing diary-style vlog, but also an ongoing show for their fandom called L.O.∧.E story (with the upside-down V for their fandom name), and a partnership with the company Spoonz that releases frequent and wonderfully adorable content.

They craft. A lot.

They are not particularly great at crafting.

As it is the holidays and Spoonz is a cute character brand hell-bent on selling me all of the adorable stuff in the world, they have, of course, thrown a wonderful Christmas Party with our five handsome, perfect husbands. They decorate a tree, write cards, ‘wrap’ presents, and fairly ruthlessly mock each other as they are want to do. That’s what I love about this group so much, they’ve been together for a very long time – from trainee days to the struggle for attention, through humiliating survival shows, separation for Wanna One, and now, finally, success. They’ve been through it all and they are insanely close. They know how to push each other’s buttons, how to be grossly supportive, and how to do it all like we’re in the room with them and not watching from thousands of miles away on a video. I feel like I, as a fan, actually have a relationship with them and that makes me want to give them the world.

Since I can’t do that, what I’ll do is share with you a little peek into what has been keeping me occupied through the chilly autumn and now cold winter nights.

It’s ridiculous and I love it.
