Stephanie, still reporting for musical duty! While last week’s musical posts were heavily SaraG influenced, this week we’re taking another friendly turn and looking at my partner in BL crime, Alix. For those of you who are not in the know, we’ve fallen down the BL rabbit hole and spend a portion of our Saturdays watching BL and drinking bubble tea. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Well, that’s because it is. This path has taken us to some interesting stops along the way. 2Moon2‘s Pavel’s Youtube, filled with workout videos, flexing, a New Zealand accent, and more flexing. We spent many a fun visit with Tae and New Meal Date (Dark Blue Kiss), drooling over all of the food they were eating. Theory of Love‘s Off and Gun cleverly named Off Gun Fun Night has episodes where couples from other shows come on to play games and Off and Gun cheat in order get the other guys to lose their pants? Literally? Sure. Sign us up.
Then it happened. Thai BL Pop. Queue squeeing and laughter so loud it chased the dog out of the room.
Okay, so technically it’s not BL pop, but officially Thai Pop. TPop? The group we found was SBFIVE which is made up of most of the main cast from the original 2Moons. These guys were on the show and then apparently something like this went down:
Incessant practicing for that one musical scene. In walks a producer. “Hey! You guys can kinda sing! And almost dance. Want to be in a group?”
All cast members except the guy who played Pha. “Yay!”
And so SBFIVE was formed.
Just in time for me to be covering the Musical Monday desk, who has a comeback? SBFIVE! As soon as it was announced, Alix began her campaign to have them be promoted here as again, this is hilarious. Funny thing is though? This song and video? While is hilarious, it is also massively catchy and adorable. I want to say it reminds me of when I was hooked on B1A4, just filled with cute and fun. And you know what all of our lives need right now? You guessed it, cute and fun. I want to poke fun at it, I’m a sarcastic jerk, it’s what I do, but I just…can’t. These guys are just so eager, you can tell they want to do a good job but at the same time are just having a lot of fun with it — like a lot of my favorite kpop songs from years past. With the bright colors of the sets and their outfits, Bas’s bright blue hair, Copter’s bright smile showing off those dimples? Even the dancing is just so infectious!
Sorry, wrong word.
Anyway, while their other songs haven’t been my cup of tea, this song is either a one-off or is them showing that they’re getting better at their new gig. Either way, it’s making me smile as I watch it over and over again, so I thought I’d share, hoping it brightens your day just a little bit.
Or in the words of Alix:
