Casting News

With this being the week of Nu’est, I figured it was time to talk about Ren’s upcoming musical, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.  (Did you see their new song? Their stages? SWOON. I’m so happy. (Maybe not so much about those stage outfits, but everything else has been stellar) On top of all that Nu’est happy/squishiness? Character posters were revealed for Jamie Are you ready? If you’re a Ren fan you should probably sit down….

Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Ren

How darling is that???

I’ll be the first to admit it, I might have a little bit of a Ren problem.

On top of prepping for the new album and all his upcoming promotion, he’s busily getting ready for the musical Everyone’s Talking About Jamie, a high school boy who has dreams of becoming a drag queen. which is based on a popular book.  I love this idea and I really wish I could see him in this! I don’t even care that I’d spend the entire evening going “What’s going on? What are they saying? Why did I come to a musical if I don’t speak Korean?” It would all be worth it as I love Ren when he’s at his most androgynous as he slips into the essence of it so well.

That’s the bummer about musicals though, isn’t it? Sure, we can get access to Korean music, we can watch kdramas, or movies, but these musicals, like the ones here in the states, are more of a “You have to be there” sort of thing. I’ve been sad to miss Junsu and DK in that King Arthur musical, Jo Kwan in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Junsu in Death Note, and Junsu in Dorian Gray. And Junsu in Elizabeth. And Junsu in Dracula.

The non-Ren interesting thing about Jamie is the lead role is going to be played by several different actors.

MJ from Astro

And Shin Joo Hyup

I’m wondering how they are going to take it. I can’t imagine they are all going to be playing the same character during each show? Though weirder things have happened! My guess is each actor will play a different performance. However, that idea would make it hard for the ticket purchasers. Would I be an asshole harassing the ticket seller…”Is Ren here tonight? No? Pass. Oh, Jo Kwon? Sure, that’s alright, but put me on the mailing list for when it’s Ren’s night.” That would be brilliant though! I’d go see this show multiple times in order to see each actor’s take on the character and I’m guessing I’m not the only one. Plus, this would also be a whole lot easier on their schedules, each trading off days.

Anyway, I wish the show luck, almost as much as I wish I could be there to see it!
