Yoo Ah In and Park Shin Hye: #Alive With Zombies.

#Alive, Yoo Ah In and Zombies

Are we ready for more zombies??? After watching Kingdom 2, I’d say mmmmm…. nah, I think I’m going to pass, I’ve had my fill for a while, but the casting of the upcoming #Alive? Sign me up. I’ll bring my homemade antibacterial gel, I’ll double up my face mask, I’ll shove my hands into ziplock bags to sit in a theater to witness this.*

Park Shin Hye in a zombie film?

Or, I should specify, Park Shin Hye and Yoo Ah In in a zombie film. Yoo Ah In I’m more excited about because I really like him as an actor and due to his innate ability to choose dramas that I’m less than interested in, it’s been a good while since I’ve seen him in anything. (My favorite Yoo Ah In roll? Besides Sungkyunkwan Scandal which we’re all contractually obligated to say is our favorite Yoo Ah In show? Tough As Iron. Gah, I cried in that¬† movie, he made me FEEL it.) I’m ready for him. But while I haven’t seen him do a horror movie before, I have seen him do action before. Which he’s very good at. I can buy him doing this. Sure. Yoo Ah In vs Zombies? Cool.

But Park Shin Hye?

For some reason, my brain just halts and says ‘Woah‘. Yep, she’s a beloved actress. Yep, she’s been in a lot of stuff. But action and horror? Perhaps I just haven’t seen her do anything like that but I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around it. Normally I’d be leery of something like this, stepping outside, so far outside one’s wheelhouse but I’m actually really interested to see what she can do. She is a good actress, she has what she does down to a science, but this is taking what she’s done, her experience, and tossing it aside, all, “let’s give this a go.” Can she pull it off? If she throws away all her romantic comedy tells, I think she could. Either way, #Alive is going to be something not to miss.

#Alive, again, is out in June so I’m not certain how it got this far and I hadn’t heard anything about it. The premise essentially runs around a sudden influx of zombies (perhaps these were the Kingdom 2 zombies that just magically disappeared?) taking over Seoul, trapping people in an apartment complex with no cell service or internet. GASP! You know what would turn these stay at home orders into an instant horror story? No internet or cell service. Be honest, you just pictured it and got chills down your spine, didn’t you? Add some zombies who are most def out to eat your intestines?

Side note. Where did the zombies eating brains thing come out of? Every single horror movie/show I watch they always go for the intestines! Its probably the gore factor but now it has me wondering.

In a time like this, what would you do? Where would you go? Can’t get out of your house. Can’t stay in your house for infinite as, I don’t know about you, but even in pandemic mode, I don’t really keep that much food in my house. And if you do manage to get yourself out where do you go? How do you get there? Without cell service, how would you know the safe places, if there is such a thing? Dude, without my navigation, I couldn’t even tell you where the police station was. For real.

Ooooh think this is going to be some sort of life lesson about cell phones and modern life? Trying to throw a message into a zombie flick? Well. It wouldn’t be the first time. *Ahem*ShawnoftheDead*Ahem*

Here we have a teaser for #Alive that is aptly done on a cell phone.

Cell phone theme? Check.
Bloody Zombies who have a hankering for a bit of Yoo Ah In’s intestines? Check.
Yoo Ah In? Check.
Yoo Ah In’s rumbly voice? Check. Check. Check.

Sign me up my friends. I’m ready to get my zombie back on.

*Just kidding. But I’d totally consider going to those less than awesome sites to watch it from the safety of my own home.
