Throwback (Musical) Thursday – Beat the Heat

Music

This past week, I got a super random text from Alix that just said ‘2015.’ Now, it’s not unusual to get a message from my KB without context that confounds me a little until I pull myself more fully out of whatever it is I’m working on and focus on what she’s saying. Sometimes I work it out, sometimes I text back a “?” and she explains. This numerical message came in during the middle of the workday when I was on a Zoom meeting and I had zero idea of what it could mean. The number of unread emails she has to tackle? The number of items on her two do list? The number of times I’ve not understood a text? So…

“?”

The explanation? It was a prompt for this post. She was helping me narrow down on what I would talk about today by giving me a timeframe. Super lovely. I mean, 2015 was a HUGE year in Kpop so that still leaves about a billion options, but a billion is fewer than the alternative. When I say 2015 was huge, I mean the debut groups alone went on to shape a lot of my listening experience for years – Monsta X, Ikon, VAV, Up10tion, and Seventeen to name a few. The solo artists? Dean, Elo, Park Jimin, and G.Soul. Banner year. Enormous.

So. Much. I. could. Say.

But it’s summer and I don’t have AC and it’s terribly hot out. I don’t handle heat all that well and I get crabby.

Wanna know what makes me happy.

This.

Shake It, Sistar

Facebook reminded me that 2015 was also the year that Mr SA and I began attending Kpop concerts. While they are not really Kpop, Epic High was our first experience. And also the momentous moment that I stood between Tablo and Mithra Jin!!

2015 was also the year we saw Bts for the first time. A great year indeed!
