Now that I’m finally post move (not post unpacking, I’m literally choosing to ignore the mess around me in order to get this post up), I’m ready to get back to BL business. Actually, lie. BL was really the only thing I kept up on while getting ready to move houses (again). Having the BL and Bubbles calendar — an up to date Rolodex of the current BL schedule was super helpful. Alix and I made wise choices and decided to pace ourselves. Deciding that instead of binging everything in sight we’d savor the shows in order to 1) not stress ourselves out and 2) make sure we had plenty to watch in case we reached a BL dry spot again. In the month of September, here’s a report of what we’ve watched:
Finished Game Boys
Gulped down Mr. Heart (I think I’m going to do a separate post on just how much I adored this show.)
Currently Simulcasting Oxygen, My Day and A Chance To Love
Since this was so successful, I figured, hey, here’s our October Schedule for BL and Bubbles!
September 29th (Missed this one for September)
YYY Special – Thailand – 3 Episode Series
Also known as YYY Season 2!
“Nut” A young man who has lost his loved ones is “moulded” by his stubbornness and invincity for his love. He’s back to thinking about himself and setting out to find love. This time, he was confident and determined to get his lover to succeed, but he didn’t know if his lover would emerge to complete his mission, and this love would be sprinkled with rose petals, or that it would be filled with spikes. This time, there are also uninvited guests like the “Itaw virus” who will add obstacles and harass them. What will the love of knots and molding be like this time?
We watched season one with a “What the hell is this freaking show” attitude and yet couldn’t put it down. In the height of the quarantine, it was just the right sort of crazy to keep our mind off things. When they said they were going to come out with a season two, we said suuuureeee. As this happens a lot now. But man were they not kidding! Maybe two months later BAM season two. Alix and I will totally be watching this bag of crazy.
Love Stage!! – Japanese – Movie
With a father who’s a singer, a mother who’s a movie star, and an older brother Shougo who’s the lead vocalist for the super-popular band “The Crusherz,” Sena Izumi—an otaku college student—is the only dull one born into this super-famous and talented family. He loves “Magical Girl LalaLulu” and is working hard to become a mangaka, but one day he winds up appearing in a TV commercial he just can’t turn down. There, he’s reunited with Ichijou Ryouma, the super-popular young actor he costarred with on a project ten years prior.
I’m guessing this is going to be hard to get our hands on, Japanese stuff os often is. I want to say I actually read the manga this was based on, back when I was scarfing down manga. I do like a Japanese BL so I’m officially on the hunt for it. Perhaps Alix and I can do an all movies day.
Cherry Magic – Japanese – Movie
While still a virgin at the age of 30, Kiyoshi Adachi gains a magical power. His magical power allows him to read other people’s mind by touching them. At first, he is overwhelmed by his power. His new magical ability is not helpful to him at all. Things change when he accidentally touches Yuichi Kurosawa and reads his mind. Yuichi Kurosawa has romantic feelings for Kiyoshi Adachi.
30sai made Dotei dato Mahotsukai ni Narerurashii – This is a trailer someone made for the manga, but its cute and I couldn’t find one for the show so I’m adding it in.
What I said for Love Stage!!! is the same here, sure I’ll watch it, if we can ever get our hands on it. Also, I’m finding conflicting details on whether this is due to be a drama or a movie.
Location – Thai – Movie
Earth is a high school boy who working on a path that is chaotic and confusing and so silently holds grievances in his heart. But when a young boy moves next to Earth’s house, Earth’s life slowly begins to change. This is a story of how the two boys get closer and help each other grow, showing that the soft changes in life can be found in the location that’s just next to each other’s house.
Is it just me or is this a dumb trailer? Sorry guys, with so many dramas I could be watching with guys looking longingly at each other nowadays, I’m going to be choosing one with some sort of plot. While I’m sure this show does have one, with so many things on my plate, this show will be added on, but the chances of us actually getting to it any time soon is going to be super slim.
Skinship – Thai – Series
Dude. There’s no synopsis on this, no teaser. You are literally less than two weeks away from your premier and we have nothing. Is your promotion plan just figuring “Hey, its a BL, people will watch it”? I mean, you’re not entirely wrong, but give us some credit. Though I’ll admit due to this poster, I’m more apt to choose this one over Location.
Boys’ Lockdown – Filipino – 6 Episode Series
Love in the time of a pandemic. While it’s certainly not the best time to go out, meet someone and fall in love, Key and Chen find each other in the middle of the enhanced community quarantine and connect in ways that surprise them both. As they get to know each other despite the restrictions, challenges and even dangers stemming from the pandemic, something very special starts to blossom between them. In a time when we’re forced to keep apart from each other, does love have the power to connect us?
SERIOUSLY. Did you watch this teaser? This looks like it could be the cutest thing ever! I haven’t had a chance to talk about how impressed I am with the Philipines jump into BL, but with Game Boys, Hello Stranger, and My Day, I am HOOKED. I can not wait for this show to start and as soon as I’m finished writing this post and am allowed back on social media, I’m going to send the trailer to Alix so she can check it out.
Craving You – Taiwan – Movie
The love between a pastry chef & an internet celebrity singer with a side couple. The story tells how they meet each other again as adults after their first love didn’t work out in school time.
Heck yeah! I pay for a subscription to GagaOoLala, you better believe we’re going to watch this one, for the sole reason that I want to be able to justify that $6.99 price a month. It helps that this looks cute, but mainly? GagaOoLala.
Ben X Jim – Filipino – 7 ep Series
Benjamin lives alone, with his family living in America pressuring him to move there with him. He learns his old neighbor and childhood friend, Jimson, is moving back home to spend Enhanced Quarantine with his family. BenXJim follows the story of two people who turn from strangers, to friends, to lovers, back to strangers with memories.
Ummm they had me until the “Back to strangers” part of the synopsis. I don’t know about you, but I’m in no mood to have any sort of real angst or non-HEA in my dramas. Nope. Not even if it IS from the Philippines. Tell you what, why don’t you go off and watch it, and report back.
Interpret My Love With Your Heart – Thailand – 5 ep Series
The story of two high school boys who were learning their deep relationship through complicated and unstable feelings like a storm that blows the boat away from its path. It was contrary to peaceful Phuket where they lived.
Hmmmm…. This one looks like it could be angsty. I might need you to take another one for the team and watch this before I do. Too much angst tips my emotionally topsy turvy life to the left a little too much for my liking.
Ooohlalala! While a bunch of these are short or movies, BL and Bubbles just might catch up this month!
