This week I was having a little disco with Stephanie about her current obsession watching a very, very specific type of content – I’ll let her disclose what that was as it’s not my business to share. That conversation led her down a completely different but very related YouTube rabbit hole and ended in the statement “all of my favorite women are dead.” This got me thinking about who my favorite women are, why they’re my favs, and how I share that with my daughters. My husband and I both constantly drop news articles or interesting tidbits related to the cool things women have done and are doing into our family chat, but there is definitely more I can be providing them.
I am not going to turn this post into a rant about Ada Lovelace or RBG, but I would like to acknowledge just how many amazing women are out there killing it in every single field and the Kpop industry is no exception. You may have to dig a little through some girl groups that don’t quite speak to you or some double standards that rub against our more western ideals, but there are some crazy cool ladies in the house that we should be paying attention to.
And I LOVE it when the survival shows or variety shows make it easy for us to find the…
Refund Sisters or Refund Expedition is a project group resulting from the variety show How Do You Play? This quartet is the follow up to the group SSAK3 (Yoo Jae Sook, Lee Hyori, and Rain using awesome stage names). I have to admit, I haven’t watched the show nor much of the behind-the-scenes footage. I can’t really speak to how wonderful the whole thing is nor do I completely understand what’s going on. BUT, I can tell you that Refund Sisters is made of up four of the coolest ladies on the block – Lee Hyori, Jessi, Kelly, and Hwasa.
They’ve developed new stage names, persona facts about their fake lives, new personalities, and very different sounds. I can imagine that it would be soooo incredibly fun to be able to re-invent yourself as a bit of a caricature of a diva and act that out so thoroughly on a global stage. And don’t worry, Yoo Jae Sook is still involved in the whole process and concept – as their producer Jimi Yoo.
Take a look. Tell me what you think?
Super fun, right?
Don’t Touch Me, Refund Sisters

LAUGH. Context, Stephanie has been obsessed with Challenger documentaries. And our favorite ladies? Sally Ride and Margaret Brown. I’m looking forward to the video for this coming out!
