When Worlds Collide – Trixie and Korea!

Trixie Mattel Kim Chi

In a previous post where I talked about things getting me through this pandemic, I mentioned my new love of drag queen Trixie Mattel. I chug down anything she puts out there. Over and over again. Not sure how this happened, but its become a balm for my jagged edges. So when I was having a hard day and not one but two Trixie videos came out where she and her cohorts talk about Korean whatnots, I know the universe is listening to me and wants to help make it better.

First off, I now have a stationary bike in my house and weekday mornings I get up, put something on the tv, and peddle away for my allotted time. The previous workout watches included all A.C.E content in the world, my favorite Kbob episodes, and last week I actually watched some drama episodes (when I was binging Advance Bravely). This week, I opened up my youtube and this was sitting there! I love Trixie and Katya videos, I loved #Alive, I couldn’t wait to watch them react to it. I want to say I wasn’t disappointed but if asked, I would have loved for it to be longer!

I loved it when they poked about his blond hair never growing out.

It was just a great way to start out the day.

Then! When my day really started going south, I flipped on Youtube and this popped up. Day? Almost fixed. Trixie and her friend Kim Chi the Korean drag queen do a mukbang trying all Korean dishes! It’s hilarious watching Trixie react to some of our favorite foods…. and just as fun watching Kim Chi heckle her for her limited food preferences. They tried food like banana milk, tteokbokki, kimbap, jeon, kimchi, acorn noodles, and soybean paste stew. Some of them went over a lot better than others…

When Trixie said the dish smelled like it had been buried in the ground, I laughed so hard as, yeah, it has been.

Yep, I love it when two of your favorite things collide and yesterday? It totally did!

Thing One was JUST telling me about the mukbang and lamenting about the lack of appreciation for good food.

That’s hilarious. I thought, all things considered, she did pretty well. I didn’t love kimchi the first time I tried it, and I still don’t really like the fermented soybean stew. Actually, I had it one time in Korea when I went to the BBQ place with Lisa where I had one that was pretty awesome. Makes me really want to nom nom some korean food.
