I don’t know about you, but I have a limited time throughout the day to consume all of the lovely content I want. Sometimes I wish I could listen to and enjoy many, many artists simultaneously … I’ve had moments where I want to just inject them all into my brain so they’re there, singing away, keeping me happy. For this reason, I am a huge fan of collabs. Putting two artists I love together in the same song is great. And if the song can take it, three or more can be orgasmic.
This week I was checking on some artists I stalk on iTunes to see if anything had slipped past me when I saw a little (and I use this term loosely) number popping up all over the place. In October of this year, Chancellor, a Korean American singer, rapper, and producer, put out a song called Automatic featuring Babylon, TWLV, Bibi and Jiselle. People loved it. Artists loved it. Tons and tons of folks covered it or wrote their own little bits to go along with the beat and the outcry for a remix with a few different features was heard loud and clear.
Enter, Automatic (remix). Featuring 27 different artists, all with their unique parts, alongside Chancellor, this longer than fifteen-minute song is perfection. Each and every participant stays within the framework of the original track while still showing off their own style and flavor. The parts are just the right length to get a taste and know even more about who you want to explore while not being long enough to get boring while you wait for the next person in line.
Knowing that, if you’re like me, you don’t have much time to read a long post AND listen to the song, I’ll keep the written part short. Enjoy to the fullest. I did…several times. Check the tags for the list of artists involved. Everyone mentioned has a part in the full remix…even those in the original version.
Automatic (Remix), Various Artists….it’s the only way I could label it
