BL and Bubbles Calendar: April

It’sf that time of month again! Time to talk about all the BL shows that are coming up in April and all the shows we missed premiering in March! (Turns out we missed a bunch in March, it seems like there is no rhyme or reason to getting these shows on an actual schedule. It’s like, it’s a race to get them done and toss them out as soon as they are presentable. I’m writing this while having Sugar Rush on in the background and I’m mentally equating the BL new show schedule to racing to that buzzer when you’re dessert is done.

Mmmm….desert.

But first, as ever, lets talk about what we are watching, what we watched, what we loved and what we…didn’t love.

Currently watching:

HIStory 4 – Two episodes in and I’m not loving this show as much as I thought I would! I’m really disliking the stepbrother storyline, not because they are stepbrothers, not because the younger brother is creepy (I’ve nicknamed him Dark and Stormy), no, oddly its hot older brother, the enabler who is really bothering me. Its almost like he’s secretly encouraging these acts while giving a token protest. I’m interested to see where the other pair goes.

Tale of a Thousand Stars – Its been a while since we’ve watched this but we want to watch all in one go and we’ve had some unfortunate tennis league scheduling conflicts. I hear it ends really well so I’m excited to check it out.

Precise Shot – I don’t know if this can be considered as currently watching, we watched the first episode, realized it’s Chinese so it’s going to be a bromance and… haven’t been back yet? Not exciting enough for me to push to put it back on the schedule but it’s not terrible, I can see us maybe finishing this.

Lovely Writer – This is a super cute show! I think they cast Sib a little old, especially if he’s supposed to be 20, but turns out, it’s one of those things I can make myself let go. I really don’t care about the second storyline, I don’t care how they tried to give him a tragic backstory. But Gene and Sib are super cute together and though a little creepy to see BL from this lens, I really just want them to be happy. I also need to know WHAT IS SIB’S DEAL? We’re not seeing really anything from his POV and I’d like to. I think he’s hiding something from us.

Completed:

Manner of Death – Finished it! LOVED it! We watched all episodes in three sittings, putting all other shows aside in order to watch it. It was one of the shows we were most excited for this year, and it did not disappoint.

You Make Me Dance – SO GOOD. We both super liked this show. I want to say it’s one of my favorite Korean BLs but now its so hard to choose. We felt this one. And what was up with his mom??? Is she dead? It’s the first time I’m rooting for a random mom to be dead, but there it is.

Color Rush – This was like a soulmate fanfic come to life. It’s a little bit of unexpected Sci-fi in there a world that we could have spent a whole series in. I mean, what happened to his mom? This time I hope she’s NOT dead but there’s huge story setups that we just were left hanging in. I did like that they were both dependant on each other, it made it a little less creepy.

 

Okay, so lets get into the new shows! While I had decided not to anymore, I did include a couple of teaser trailers, I’m sure they’ll only work for a short period, but you’ll notice, a lot of these are short on deets so I wanted to get a better feel for what they were like.

March 3rd

Killer and Healer 37 eps

A story that follows two men who are polar opposites-one kills, while the other heals. One is a violent cop and the other is a compassionate doctor. Together they support and redeem each other during troubled times.
Jiang Yue Lou heads the Jingcheng Police Station and appears neither good nor evil. Yet smugglers tremble at the thought of him.
While investigating an opium case in Hong Kong, Yue Lou encounters Yu Zhi who learns that Yue Lou suffers from bipolar disorder. Although initially reluctant to undergo treatment, Yue Lou eventually opens up to Yu Zhi. Despite their differing values they slowly become close friends. Meanwhile, warlord Zhan Jun Bai, tycoon Zhao Jing Ming and rogue gangster Zhou Huo continue to make trouble, even attempting to murder Yue Lou. At this time, the secrets from the past start to bubble to the surface.

Will we watch? It’s Chinese so solidly bromance. Meh. I tried watching their ‘romantic bromances’ and they don’t really do it for me. 

 

March 20th

Diving Into Love 10 Eps

The story is about family, self-love and moving-on. This will also showcase the beautiful sceneries of Puerto Galera Island, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.

March 21

Friend Or Lover 4eps

The story revolves around four good friends, slowly discovering their feelings for each other and how their relationship slowly developed to lovers.

Will We Watch? Okay, sure, there isn’t a lot of info here. Sure, I can’t find a teaser. But here’s the thing, its a Taiwanese BL, of course we’re going to be watching it! 

Infinity 10 eps

“Infinity” tells about a rich man who wants to be normal. He will do everything just for the family of his beloved. This story tells you that there is forever for the person who will wait for the right time.

Will We Watch? Watched a teaser, not going to post it here as I’m sure it’s going to be taken down in three seconds, but, it looks…fairly terrible. If we put a hold on Cupid Coach due to quality, we’re going to be pretty desperate before starting it. (Though sometimes we get pretty desperate!)

March 27th

Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko (Absolute BL/Man Who Defies The World of BL)

One day, the protagonist realizes that he lives inside a “world of BL.” As he likes girls, he fights back against any hot guys that might draw near, but this is a “world of BL”… he’s still assailed with the sight of people in lovey-dovey situations one after another!

Will We Watch? More a matter of ‘can we find it?’ If we can, with solid subs and a fair quality, we’ll watch but those Japanese ones are hard! 

March 30th

Cut: The Series 8 eps

“Cut the Series” is a timely story about love, dreams, and friendship

Will We Watch? Way to have a terrible synospsi that means really nothing. Plus having a lady in there who def looks like she’s going to stir up some “I’m a girl in a B trouble”. Unless something happens to change my mind, it isn’t looking too good for Cut. I did find the below trailer and it didn’t make me want to watch it any more than I did. (ie at all) Where’s all my the Filipino dramas I want to watch? Did they run them all last year? 

Y-Destiny 15 eps

Y-Destiny is the story of 7 best friends: Sun, Mon, Tue, Puth, Thurs, Masuk and Sat, each of whom has different personalities according to their birthdays and fate leads them to meet their loved ones.

Each story will be told one day at a time.

Will We Watch? When we were watching the teaser, it was hard to follow because there were so many people in it, but now that I see the synopsis, the poster, I can see that’s actually the point. We’re already pretty excited for this! 

April 9th

Will We Watch?This is going to be on Gagaohlala! I love it when I can watch a show on a platform I already pay for. 😀 Plus, I liked 2Moons2 … ooh that’s who that guy is on the bottom of the pic! We haaated him in 2Moons2 that character was such a butthole. I bet we’ll watch it, but shows inside the BL creation world make me feel…weird. 

The Reason Why He Fell In Love With Me Season 2

Sequel to Kare ga Boku ni Koishita Wake

Synopsis to Kare ga Boku ni Koishita Wake:

Two teachers work together at the same high school. Will We Watch? I can’t see this happening. We’d have to find season 1, watch season 1, find season 2 and then watch season 2. That’s a lot of effort. 

Heaven’s Official Blessing 40 eps

He ascended to the Heavens at a young age; however, due to unfortunate circumstances, was quickly banished back to the mortal realm. Will We Watch? Again, Chinese drama, probably not. 

Fish Upon the Sky 

Pi has a crush on one of the hottest students in the Allied Health Sciences Department but since he is not confident enough about his looks, he is helpless. At least until Duen and his friends help him get a makeover to boost his confidence. When Pi finally has the guts to approach his crush, he meets his love rival, Mork.

Pi tries to surpass Mork in everything to get the attention of Nan but he is not lucky enough to beat him. However, everything changes as Pi starts to feel a different set of feelings towards Mork, making things more complicated.

Will We Watch? IT HAS THE GUY FROM TALE OF A 1000 STARS!!! I loved him in that! I can’t wait to see him in something else. When I first heard about him being in here, I was like “He’s in another show so soon?” but then remembered Tale of 1000 Stars sat around for at least a year waiting to premier. 

 

April 10th

My Toxic Lover

‘My Toxic Lover’ is an exciting story of a famous movie superstar who falls in love with an ordinary young man.

Will We Watch? It has the guy who played Sky from My Porn Day I mean, My Day. I have to ask, why are these trailers/teasers sooooo long?? Six minutes? Yeesh. I have a feeling we will watch this but its not going to be crazy high on my list. 

 

April 15th

 

Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding 8eps

Will We Watch? SQUEEEEE!!!!!!! Yes. Woot! Very excited for this show. The interesting thing is that it actually stars main actors from three of the other Korean BLs! There is the pacemaker from Mr Heart, the musician from Wish You, and the bodyguard from Where Your Eyes Linger! Plus a historical BL? Sign me up.

Papa and Daddy 6 eps

Damian who runs a restaurant in Taipei and has always had a dream of “getting a family and raising children”.
