Last week I had a fun time with the BL Buddy challenge and when another Instagram reel came up with a kdrama version, I figured, heck yeah, let’s give it a go. I know I talk a lot about BL but Kdrama was my first love and, as my 10-year anniversary fast approaches, I’ve been thinking a lot about it. What I’ve watched, what I’ve loved, what I’ve forgotten, and what I wish I’d kept up with. In honor of that here is this quick Kdrama challenge.
First Kdrama
My first ever drama was Playful Kiss. I think that really dates me Kdrama wise as this was the hot drama of the year when I watched it. I now have mixed feelings about the series, and I’m contemplating a trip back in order to see how it’s aged, or if I still think I would have gotten as hooked as I did if I watched it for the first time now.
Most recently finished Kdrama?
Just last week I finished the zombie/infection/monster drama Dark Hole. It was everything that I wanted in a summertime horror series.
Kdrama you’re currently watching?
I’m actually currently watching two different Kdramas right now.

The Netflix show Move To Heaven was a surprise pick-up for me. Sure it has my favorite Lee Ji Hoon in it, but it was the premise of the son with Aspergers dealing with the death of his father while being given to the care of the ex-convict street fighter uncle who he’s never met before. I cry during almost every single episode. I’m 2 episodes away from the end and just hope it ends well and really, really hope they don’t feel the need to set up a season 2.
Since I finished Dark Hole, I allowed myself to pick up another drama. SaraG love, loves, loves Hospital Playlist and has made it her mission in life to get everyone to watch. While I haven’t told her yet, I caved. I’m on episode two and this is both a fun and a hard watch. I love the friendship of these people four and while the medical stuff doesn’t really mesh well with my current neurotic self, I actually found myself completely focused on the episodes I watched. Me! Ms. Short Attention Span put her phone down to watch!
Kdrama that made you cry the most?
Scent of a Woman made me cry like someone in my own family had died. While they tried to make it an uplifting message about living every moment like it’s your last, THEY ARE LIVING EVERY MOMENT LIKE ITS THEIR LAST BECAUSE SHE IS DYING. (This is no spoiler, it’s right there in the description.)
Kdrama you’d most recommend to someone?
Splash Splash Love is one of the best kdramas to recommend to someone. Super cute, short, and not too angsty, it’s really a great intro to the genre. (Srsly, have you ever heard of anyone NOT liking this show?)
YAY, that was fun! I was afraid it was going to ask me what my favorite kdrama was because I’m not certain I can answer that anymore but these questions? Super easy! Let me know how you would answer these questions!

This is fun!
First K Drama – Winter Sonata
Most Recently Finished Kdrama – I just finished The Witch’s Diner last night
Currently Watching Kdrama – The Great Shaman, Hospital Playlist, The Devil Judge
Kdrama that made you cry the Most – Tie between Scent of a Woman & Popcorn (both involved death)
Kdrama you’d most recommend – Depends on who really – My name is Kim Sam Soon, You’re Beautiful, Marriage Not Dating, Something About 1%
Thanks for playing! How did you like The Witch’s Diner? I was thinking of trying it? I’m glad I’m not the only one who bawled like a baby to Scent of a Woman. I was like, this sounds like the movie Last Holiday, she totally lives at the end of that, this will be the same! Dumb-Dumb. Healer is a great one to recommend!
The Witch’s Diner was just OK for me. I like the concept and Song Ji Hyo looked really gorgeous! But I’m disliking the once a week drama format! I have goldfish memory, so I prefer to binge dramas. Not a drama I would rewatch, but at 8 episodes, it won’t take up too much of precious time. It’s my first encounter with Chae Jong Hyeop, and he’s puppylicious!
Forgot to add Healer! to the recommend drama
