Khottie of the Week: The Rose’s Dojoon

Khottie of the Week

Following the trend of turning my current listening list into a Khotttie, this week we are going with the lovely Dojoon from one of my favorite bands, The Rose. Their music just hits you right in your heart when you’re feeling a certain way, and when I’m feeling that certain way, no other music will really do it for me. He’s been on the Khottie possibilities list for a while but unfortunately, since The Rose is not a Kpop Idol group, and he’s not the lead singer, there aren’t a ton of pictures out there for me to display so I’ve been putting him off…until now!

I didn’t even really know Dojoon was a thing until going to a concert (one of my last pre-pandemic) and our spot was right in front of the keyboardist…who happens to be Dojoon.

That night, man did I learn that not only was Dojoon a thing, he did that thing well.

He was talented and personable and instantly hooked me in.

We had high-touch tickets and this was the first time I wasn’t horribly awkward with the “Good job!” “Thanks” “Good job!”

I risked security, stopped in front of him, and said “Seriously, you did a really great job tonight.”

He paused, smiled, put his hand to his chest, and said thank you. (Fluent English speaker.)

From then on, huge Dojoon fan.

Of course the next day I went to Choice Music and bought all The Rose albums as I realized mid-concert I didn’t own a single one.

I paid attention to the music and realized he does a lot of the singing along with Woosung, singing some of my favorite parts in these songs.

Turns out I was a fan before I knew I was a fan.

Now that we know that The Rose managed to purchase their way out of their concert, I’m excited with the idea that:

1) we’ll have more music again and

2) I’ll have another chance to see them perform in person — because I’d go again in a heartbeat.

And let me tell you, if I go again? I’m standing in line at 6am so I can be right next to that stage.

It’s happening.

Because Dojoon is a thing.

What a great chance to complement a musician! I admit to skipping my hi-touch moment with Day 6 because of you know – embarrassment – but you make this seem a possibility.
