After a rough month of trying to schedule some dramawatching, we’re back in the saddle of watching BL again. We have a lot of shows to catch up on, but we’re always looking for more shows to pick up. You know, keeping up with the newest and brightest. We may know what we want to watch next, but we’re always willing to kick something to the curb to put something fun in its place. Unfortunately, like August and September where we had to put the update posts together into one, there doesn’t seem to be a TON of dramas going on. I hear about upcoming shows all the time so I don’t think its a lack of popularity, I think this could just be BL’s slow season.
Anyway, here are the shows that are premiering in October!
But first our report card:
Don’t Say No – We watched the pre-episode and the first episode which was actually better than I had anticipated. I can totally see this show being, well, you decided to be a couple, now what?
Bite Me – This is super slow-paced but I’m really enjoying it, probably in part because of that.
Top Secret Together – This is a bit of nothing show, while we decided not to watch as part of BL and Bubbles both Alix and I are watching separately (gotta make use of the Gagaoolala option)
Love Area – Another show on Gagaoolala but this one is a lot cuter. We’re two episodes in and at the beginning I was really hoping he’d fall for the neighbor but we’re not that lucky.
Tasty Florida – Started watching this but realized how short it was and decided to hold off and watch altogether. The first episode was really good and definitely has the Kdrama swoonies.
See You After Quarantine – Like Tasty Florida, this is a short drama. And by short the episodes MIGHT be seven minutes long so this is another one we’re going to hold off on until its completely done.
NONE – It’s been a rough month.
Mario, a naive and old-fashioned guy met Jethro, a goal-oriented fashionable heartthrob from New York at a dinner party. Unlikely as it may seem, they hit it off and soon becomes a couple. Mario thinks he has found the ideal man but finds himself on a roller coaster ride of anxiety, jealousy, and love when he learned that Jethro is only staying for a two-month vacation. It’s a bitter-sweet romance about finding that one perfect elusive love despite their differences. Would you take the chance even if it’s only for a limited time?
Will we watch? If we can find it, sure, sounds cute!
Kieta Hatsukoi (Vanishing My First Love)
Aoki has a crush on Hashimoto, the girl in the seat next to him in class. But he despairs when he borrows her eraser and sees she’s written the name of another boy—Ida—on it. To make matters more confusing, Ida sees Aoki holding that very eraser and thinks Aoki has a crush on him!
Will we watch? Wellllll can you tell me if this is an actual BL or not so much. That will really determine if we watch or not.
My Mate Match
It’s about Match, who’s looking for a roommate to share a big room in a new condominium. But there are two guys who contact him at the same time. Match has 3 weeks to decide whom he will choose to be his roommate. So Match starts a YouTube VLOG called #MateMatch #HelpMeChooseRoommate and asks the audience to vote whom he should choose. So this is the story during those 3 weeks.
Will we watch? Reminds me of Win Jamie’s Heart but hopefully better. This sounds like a TERRIBLE way to find a roommate though.
BetCin – 8 Eps
Online couple Beth and Cindy, aka BetCin, is on the verge of breaking up. As they cook up their plan on how to best to say goodbye to their followers — the UMAMI’S — they receive an oddly- timed message:
You have been selected as one of the semi-finalists for our search for #RelationshipGoals of #RelationshipGoals.
What is at stake? 10 million pesos cash and a lot of other prizes!
They both need the money, but can they pretend that they are the ideal couple in front of every Umami liking, sharing, and commenting on their every social media content? Can they still tolerate each other’s crazy?
What chaos will this contest bring to their already chaotic relationship?
Will we watch? Meh. Probably not? But who knows, maybe it will go to Gagaoolala!
My Sweet Dear – 8 Eps
Yoon Do Gun is a highly talented chef and is the culinary creative genius behind Laura Dining, a top, critically acclaimed restaurant. But although Yoon Do Gun’s hard work has won Laura Dining to the top of the South Korean restaurant scene, the eponymous restaurant owner and Yoon Do Gun are beginning to pull in very different directions. While she wants to ensure that the menu is always packed with crowd-pleasing dishes, Yoon Do Gun wants to challenge diners with creative and newer preparations.
The falling-out intensifies when the owner hires Choi Jung Woo to work in the same kitchen. The latter is a talented chef in his own right, but his real skills are in copying other people’s hit recipes, rather than developing his own. Although the two chefs begin on the wrong foot, adopting an adversarial stance to one another, after getting to know one another, the beginnings of an unlikely love story start to form. Could rivalry turn to romance as the heat intensifies in the kitchen?
Will we watch? A Korean BL??? Heck yeah.
Peach of Time
Peach, a 22-year old Thai boy, takes a daring step in his life and decides to fly to Korea to meet his Korean friend, Yun Oh. They first met when Yun Oh visited the restaurant Peach’s parents own in Phuket.
Everything seems perfect for Peach. He finally realized his dream! On top of that, as he stays in his friend’s house, the two can finally be together. But something just doesn’t seem right. Sung Suk, Yun Oh’s mother, seems to be cautious and reserved in Peach’s presence. She is harsh with her son and Peach soon realizes that the two do not get along well.
Willing to help his friend, Peach takes matters in his own hands and tries to mend the strained relationship. He just wants Yun Oh to be happy… and if he can make it happen, he will! But what is that weird feeling in Peach’s heart? Does he like Yun Oh…?
Will we watch? This one is a bit of a cheat, as the series just ended, but there is going to be a movie version coming out. From what I hear people were really disappointed in the show’s ending and are hoping for an alternate ending in the movie version.
Follows the story of Don, a freelance photographer and an heir of a famous hotel and restaurant business – who lost his family member and have to go back to Thailand according to his father’s order. And he met, Nilun a young barista and owner of a cafe who gave solace during his crumbling moments.
Will we watch? Awww this looks cute as hell!
