Khottie of the Week: Nu’est

Khottie of the Week

I thought long and hard who should be our last Khottie. Should I revisit the first-ever Khottie? Should I do a group? Should I do a theme post? Or a collection of the ones I personally love? This is the last one ever and it seemed like an overly important choice. I decided to go with the group Nu’est. It’s appropriate. I realized mid-pandemic that none of the members had ever been individually featured and MEANT to go back to them, but never did. That seems like an error that I need to adjust before we close down shop. So, are you ready? I present Nu’est.

All of them.

Nu’est I actually came to love right as the pandemic was hitting.

I started to get to know them the Christmas of 2019, really because I knew it would make my friend and huge Nu’est Love, SaraG happy.

I just started by calling out their names to her.

She suggested that by doing that, I was actually fan chanting.

So I immediately stopped.

Don’t want to look like I’m perpetuating that garbage.

So instead I started watching their variety shows.

And surprise surprise, they stuck.

The size of the group was right in my sweet spot.

I try not to fan groups larger than 8…

Otherwise I just don’t find myself connecting.

This was not only a smaller group.

They were also a bit of an underdog.

It was a bit of a legend how they weren’t treated well by their management company.

And yet they still kept trying.

How Baekho learned how to make songs as he realized it was the only way they were going to be given better songs to put out.

It just hurts my heart and makes my heart happy all at the same time.

Who doesn’t love an underdog story?

The ultimate underdogs.

I love that despite all that…

they have managed to work their way up the ranks.

That they are starting to get the acknowledgment that they deserve.

Because a group this close, this hard-working?

Well, they deserve the best.

While I didn’t expect to become a fan.

To fall in swoon.

Sometimes you just don’t plan these things.

Sometimes they just happen.

You just have to keep at it.

Thanks Nu’est, for making this pandemic just a little bit easier.

I’m sad . This will be the last group I feel compelled to learn from your recommendation. Of course all the previous live rent free in my head and music library now. I’m sure this one will be no exception. I’m going to miss this so much. . Thanks for all you did for us fans out here. I truly appreciated all of it.
