Movie/Gay/Side Character/Happy Ending
Stephanie Note: People call this a gay movie, but really, it just has the one gay character. I first didn’t like this movie, but after a rewatch I find it delightful and have big hopes that, in the future, way off screen, the owner and the baker end up up togehter.

Web Series/Gay/Main Storyline
Stephanie’s Take: The whole series is a big thing of are they, aren’t they. I’m not entirely certain it wasn’t a case of gaybaiting. It’s cute though, espeically that side story of the guy who is actually gay.

Series/Gay/Main Storyline
Stephanie’s Take: This was like a soulmate fanfic come to life. It’s a little bit of unexpected Sci-fi in there a world that we could have spent a whole series in. I mean, what happened to his mom? This time I hope she’s NOT dead but there’s huge story setups that we just were left hanging in. I did like that they were both dependant on each other, it made it a little less creepy.

One dawn, Minwoo happens to have a conversation with her about the seasons, he comes to have a curiosity about her, and a good feeling toward her begins to grow. But the very next day, Minwoo is told by the bookstore owner about the rumor that she is a transgender…
Movie Short/Gay? Trans?/Main Storyline/Open Ending
Stephanie’s Note: The question marks above are apt as is it gay? Is it trans? Its not really clear. And if it is trans and not gay essentially Minwoo comes off as a dick…. and the woman in the alley is a little creepy. And for such a short video, the production spends an awful lot of time focused on Minwoo singing.

Stephanie’s Note: I was right, it is adorable! Its the possible start of a really cute relationship, or at least I hope it is. Love the ending!
Mr. CEO is Falling in Love with Him
From YouTube I learned this might not be the actual name of the movie. Which would make sense considering I can’t find a synopsis for it. Making one up myself it is then! Fresh out of college, boy gets fired from his first job by the CEO of the company. Little did the CEO know this guy would vow to come back and be a big star, or that they would fall in love.
Movie/Gay/Main Storyline/happy ending

Stephanie’s Take: This is actually the one which got me to not think twice about signing up for GagaOoLala. I had seen clips of it on Instagram and really wanted to see it. I hate to say that the smut you see on Instagram is a fake out but with how the show ends, I cross my fingers that its only a matter of time that these two kids get together for real.

Series/Gay/Main Storyline/Happy Ending
Stephanie’s Take: I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this is my favorite Korean BL so far! It has a great build-up, realistic character development, and a great story. I felt for both of these guys at the end, could see why they were together, and, though it wasn’t all tied up in a bow at the end, and feel like they have a realistic future. I’d totally watch this again!

Matching! Boys Archery Club (2017) is a web series about a fujoshi and Yaoi writer who takes a job a an Archery Club to get closer to the inspiration for her stories. It’s an odd BL story as it’s told completely from the POV of the fujoshi.
And ? What are you thinking about Long Time No See.
Decided to watch it anyway, definitely happy ending in case you were wondering! I loved it <3 <3 <3
Fly by night, its also nice
I loved it soooooo much
can you update the reviews of what you have watched recently?
Usually as I watch I then add them to the list, trying to get the lists as accurately as possible, however, I’m feeling a good binge watch coming on…. I’ll be sure to update as I go! 😉
Painter of the wind
Method is a 10/10 would NOT recommend unless you’re a masochist…..
why’s that?
Because its all about playing on feelings. And it might leave a bad taste in your mouth…
It’s just had an incredibly negative theme/end in my opinion. But if you enjoy psychological manipulation then it’s the one for you.
Hmmmm….thanks for the heads up, I think I’m gonna solid pass on that one, Friend!
i go to school not by bus
That is Chinese, these are Korean
a frozen flower, its a good movie but u will end up with a heavy heart.
I heard about that ending, I’m going to take a solid pass on that one
🙂
Add…this to your list…https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Between_Seasons
Where can you watch most of these ?
I watch a lot on Youtube!
Don’t know if this counts as it was very much a side story, but: Your House Helper. One of the side characters was in love with her best friend and roommate, despite knowing it would never go anywhere as he was gay.
Awwww… poor girl. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll take a look for it!
Where can I watch all these movies? Kissasian has only a few of these
I manage to catch a lot on Youtube or Dailymotion
Although it’s really more of a side story I reccomend Prison Playbook/Wise Prison Life!! The same guy who directed the reply series directed this drama and I found it to be a really fun drama in general. One of the main characters is in a relationship with another man.
Thanks! I’ve heard good things about the show, but I hadn’t heard of this storyline. I’ll add it to the next update list!
Night Flight was not ordinary romantic bl movie, it was harsh yet heartwarming. Cried on the end, if only my life was like the movie LMAO.
I did finally watch this, so good!
Be Melodramatic just started and has an openly gay relationship if you’re interested. The show itself is a bit like Age of Youth plus 8-10 years age-wise.
I am! I am interested!
I also really like “Ordinary Family” (also known as “Vacances”) by HyunJu Lee who did Our Love Story and also staring Lee SangHee. It’s a short film about a couple who is supposed to go away for the weekend but ends up dragged in family drama. It’s really good for a Korean lesbian short and I’m pretty sure the subbed version is on the director’s YouTube page now. It’s not a coming of age story and it’s interesting to see Lee explore a different approach to what it means to be a Korean queer woman.
Secret Spectacles eng sub full here found it online -> https://photos.app.goo.gl/UiO8dWQ1Li3ltR422
YAY! Thanks!
“Lily Fever” is VERY weird and equally short. It’s very male gazey in terms of how it’s shot, and definitely is focused more on showing women kissing each other than it is on character development or interiority, but is strangely charming in its bizarre approach to everything else.
You can find the whole thing Eng subbed on YouTube and it won’t even take you an hour to watch it all. Though, I should warn, only one season was produced and the story is the far from complete. It ends with a cliffhanger that’s strange even by the standards of the previous episodes.
I’ve heard it got a spiritual successor called “Green Fever” with some of the same cast and creatives, but I have no idea if there’s any LGBTQ* content in that. There doesn’t seem to be any subbed version. Seems very under the radar even though I think a member of CLC is in it.
Other web series: “Out of Breath” is a three-parter by SooNotSue that I highly recommend. I didn’t realize that it was so short when I started it, it’s rich enough that it could easily work as a full length drama.
“Am I the Only One With Butterflies?” by NEEZ is short and cute, though the second season is behind a (rather inexpensive) paywall ($4). No word if there will be a third season, it seems unlikely, but the second season ends in a way that’s sufficiently satisfying.
I understand that “The Best Time to Quit Your Job” has a queer subplot with the Baker character, though I believe it’s an unrequited and unresolved situation.
“Pragma” is a lesbian short film that actually has a happy ending. That seems like a pretty rare thing to me.
“Family Plan” is a lesbian short film you can find for free on Amazon Prime and YouTube. It’s an ambiguous thing, but definitely well done.
There’s also “Memento Mori” (also known as Whispering Corridors 2). It’s billed as a horror movie, but is more depressing than scary. The supernatural elements are backloaded and much more low key than you’d expect from a true horror film. It’s more of a magical realist psychological mystery film. It’s set in an all girls high school, and the suicide of one half of a lesbian couple is more or less the inciting incident for the meat of the story.
Likely you’ve gathered this from the above description, but there’s really nothing uplifting in this movie. If you’re like me, you’ll be more disturbed by the elements of the movie that aren’t “horror”, but are more horrifying than the supernatural could ever be. Though they aren’t the protagonists, the queer couple is the entire core of the movie, which deals quite a bit with homophobic bullying, depression, dependency, sexual abuse, and other lighthearted topics.
So, no, not a happy film, but it is a good one, and it’s considered something of a classic of Korean cinema. Worth checking out if you have the stomach for misery.
Love With Flaws is another good Korean show. The main character’s brother and his love interest. It is really good.
Where do you guys watch these movies ? I cant seem to be able to find any.
I usually catch them on youtube.
Sorry , i have questions about titled movie that iam forget , i have been seen this movie last two weeks , the story was like this , there is a men in hot of summer with his bicycle and then he fall down and get injured and then he saw a farmer house , and finally know that the hot farmer was gay, and then they was falling in love each other and then they becomes pairs forever

where can i watch between the seasons? it looks so good but i cant find it.
dramacool has it in sub
Please add In Between Seasons (2016), it’s a beautiful and heartbreaking film…
Sad that I havent seen such a wholesome mainstream storyline since Life is Beautiful in 2010. Hope is real.
Also there is a web series drama called Wish You (2020)
We just finished watching this one! Super cute.
That was quite a bold list. I too live in a conservative country but Korean cinema never lets me down with its witty and out-of-the-box writing style. I like “Itaewon Class” and the character of HyunYi always fascinated me since her debut in the show.
As someone who has was Night Flight because it had an actor that I like as one of the main roles, I would STRONGLY suggest never watching it. Steer as far away as possible. Not only does it have a terribly sad and hopeless ending, but it has one of the most cruel and gruesome rape scenes I’ve ever seen. In fact, it’s probably the most graphic that I’ve watched in a show/movie before. The scene was not censored or implied at all. Just avoid this movie at all costs honestly.
THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!!!! Yeeeesh
i dont think it is too much bad .. i love this movie and i already watch more time due to happy ending.. but at rape scene this is so disgustinng
Hi there,
Did I miss it or one is missing “Road Movie” (the second or third movie of Hwang Jeong-min), by Kim In-sik (2002)?
Does anyone know where I can find these?
Hello,
Does someone know the name of this movie ?
Its about a brother who is an actor and kinda homophobic, and he has a gay brother. The homophobic actor got a role as a gay character and it was a big break for him, but he struggles with his homophobia for the role.
I can’t seem to remember the name.
Thank you
This sounds very similar to “Lost to Shame,” 2017. It’s about a heterosexual actor who gets a theater role as a transgender woman but then gets so wrapped up in the role his life begins to spiral, affecting his relationship with his brother and friends around him.
Why didn’t you put on a series *HELLO DRACULA*
You should watch this show called Mine. on netflix. It’s a new show that just ended and it features a lesbian as one of the main characters.
